Composition in Two Genres

Space exploration is still a new topic that is expanding in an exponential rate. The universe is so vast that there is so much more to learn. This is why the objective of my vision board is to present the amazing aspects of space. The main purpose of any vision board is to visualize a goal through the use of various images or phrases. The images that I included in my vision board are added in order to have my audience think about past, present and future. One of the examples that I used for the past is the images of astronauts. These space suits are reminiscent of the apollo missions which were the early days of space exploration. The apollo missions was a huge achievement in human history. By seeing these old space suits the audience can see how far the space field has progressed. The examples I used for the present are famous figures such as Elon Musk and Neil Degrasse Tyson. Elon Musk is the CEO of the big company called SpaceX and Neil Degrasse Tyson is a astrophysicist. Both are very influential in the space community with their charismatic perceptions on space. The audience can look at these two figures and become inspired to be just like them. My final example is the future which I included the positive version and a negative version. I have images of colonized planets and huge outpost in space to portray what we as human can accomplish. The negative version is two planets colliding which can happen if we are not careful with how we treat our environment.

The focus of my audience are people who are studying in the space field or have jobs related to space. I want my audience to reach higher than where they are now, thats why I included well known companies in my vision board. SpaceX, NASA and Space Pharma are companies that those who are in the space field want to be apart of. Only the best in the field are apart of these big companies that is why I want my audience to reach their goals. The stance that I had when creating this vision board is to support space exploration. I want my audience to be active in the space community and become motivated to achieve more. My support for space exploration is very strong as it will be the future of mankind. I used a motivating tone for my genre since it was mainly focused on an audience that wanted to achieve goals in the space field. By looking at the many images and phrase they gain the motivation to pursue their careers.

The second genre that I created was a social media account. I specifically used the platform Twitter as it was popular with a younger audience and it had features to share post by other users. My goal when creating the Twitter account was to share information like articles, images and post. I wanted to show that space can attract all types of people not only intellectuals or “science nerds”. One of the methods I used was to retweet a picture of Neil Degrasse Tyson next to a Mars rover. In my Tweet I wrote, “This Mars rover looks just like the Batmobile from the Dark Knight. Wait till Martians see this awesome rover!”. I connected the Mars rover to a pop culture reference which a majority of people are familiar with, Batman. The perception of people’s views on space technology change as they see it connected to a movie. They become excited as they see an object that looks like it comes from a movie become real. I also informed my audience about current news that is relevant in the space community. I posted a tweet about the space race between India and Pakistan, connecting it to the space race between the United States and Russia. This shows that countries today are still competing to have power in space. The space race between the United States and Russia spawned in new technological advancements. This new space race will do the same and new achievements will be added to the human race. Other post that I created were images of the universe and nebulas. When people think of the space they think of darkness and stars. However there are beautiful spectacles out in space called nebulas. They are basically space clouds that come in various colors. I shared images of nebulas to show my audience how alluring space can be.  </span

The audience that I’m reaching out is a younger audience and anyone who has a fascination of space. A majority of users on Twitter are a younger generation who use social media as a way to become informed on current events. By tweeting daily about space information their knowledge in space grows and they become more and more interested. I shared a post of a space launch that was created by European university students. In my tweet I posted, “Students out there who want to pursue a career in space work hard so you can be one of them!”. Since my audience are mainly university student they can be inspired to work hard and maybe work with a well known company to create a project. The stance for this genre was supportive towards space. Space is such a vast topic that I want my audience to learn knew facts. That is why I used an enthusiastic tone when sharing information. I didn’t want my audience to be bored learning about space. I use keywords such as “Awesome”, “Wow” and emojis to attract the audience to my tweets.
